THIS JAW PAIN IS RIDICULOUS...
Why does my Jaw Hurt? The Pain comes and goes but is bad enough that I am uncomfortable...

Jaw pain may be confusing as to where it comes from and why it is there. Most people, including dentists believe Jaw Pain comes from the Jaw.

In my experience...that is so far from the truth that no wonder so many are confused. Impact or injury to the Jaw can of course create problems. But, for those who have Jaw Pain whose onset is insidious....the pain is probably caused from a mechanical standpoint.

The Spine. Why? Scoliosis. The curvature creates structural imbalances that create mechanical stress. This mechanical stress is manifested in specific areas...the Jaw being one of them. The following are laws concerning metal. It talks about terms concerning stress and strain. These are similar to how our physiology reacts to stress and strain.

StressThe term stress (s) is used to express the loading in terms of force applied to a certain cross-sectional area of an object. From the perspective of loading, stress is the applied force or system of forces that tends to deform a body.

From the perspective of what is happening within a material, stress is the internal distribution of forces within a body that balance and react to the loads applied to it. The stress distribution may or may not be uniform, depending on the nature of the loading condition.

Strain Strain is the response of a system to an applied stress. When a material is loaded with a force, it produces a stress, which then causes a material to deform. Engineering strain is defined as the amount of deformation in the direction of the applied force divided by the initial length of the material.https://www.nde-ed.org/EducationResources/CommunityCollege/Materials/Mechanical/StressStrain.htm

The TMJ joint is a complicated joint to treat. Chiropractic is an effective Method to treat TMJ.

Temporomandibular joint and muscle disorders, commonly called "TMJ," are a group of conditions that cause pain and dysfunction in the jaw joint and the muscles that control jaw movement.

We don’t know for certain how many people have TMJ disorders, but some estimates suggest that over 10 million Americans are affected.

The condition appears to be more common in women than men.

CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT OF TMJ

I use up to 3 different techniques to treat TMJ. Logan Basic, Activator and Diversified. I use each techniques to do different things.
In addition to using Logan Basic and Diversified, I use the Activator tool to adjust 10-15 key areas on the jaw, neck and upper torso. I have found this combination of techniques to very effective.
Many patients have immediate relief.

This is How I treat Jaw Pain using Chiropractic Care!!

I use 3 different Chiropractic Techniques...

There is a disc seen above in the Jaw condyle that can contribute to Jaw Pain.
The muscle, bone and ligaments that surround it are just as important.
But structurally, the Jaw develops 'issues with the tissues' it has. ie anomalies of the bone structure

Jaw Pain's additional source of pain comes from the Spine...through biomechanics.

Symptoms Include but are not limited : Jaw Pain, Ear Pain, Hard to Open Mouth, Headaches, Temple Pain, Etc.

Treatment/Adjustments: Logan Basic, Activator and Diversified Adjusting.

Activator Technique

Diversified Techniques

In my experience, separately, these techniques are helpful in the treatment of Jaw Pain.

Used together, all 3 techniques used together are powerful tools that are very effective.

Jaw Pain Treatment!!

Chiropractic Treatment of Temporomandibular Disorders Using the Activator Adjusting Instrument and Protocol

Although the specific mechanisms of chiropractic treatment are not well understood or mutually agreed upon, they are commonly thought to improve the biomechanics of articulating structures.

Chiropractic treatment is most often applied to the spine, but many chiropractic clinicians use well-established protocols to treat other structures, including hands, feet, knees, and even cranial bones, with the belief that they are improving the biomechanical functioning of those structures.

Since articular TMD is believed to involve the biomechanical functioning of 1 or more of the structures within the TMJ, it seems reasonable to suppose that chiropractic treatment of the structures of the TMJ may well have a beneficial effect in cases of articular TMD. That notion is supported by the isolated events described in the case histories referred to in the Introduction and now also by the results of this preliminary study.

Maximum mouth opening was found to improve in every one of the 8 cases that had an outcome measure, with a median of a 9-mm increase.

In view of Kropmans et al [15] finding that 9 mm was the smallest detectable difference, this result suggests clinical improvement. This is further strengthened by noting that all 3 of the cases with less than 9-mm improvement (1 mm, 6 mm, and 7 mm) had high baseline measurements (55 mm, 43 mm, and 47 mm, respectively), with the others in the case series being considerably lower.

VAS measurements were also seen to improve in each of the 7 cases that had both VAS measurements.

The median decrease was 45 mm on a 100-mm scale, with a range of 21 mm to 71 mm. Inasmuch as Kelly12 reports that 9 mm is the minimum clinically significant difference on a scale of 100 mm, the VAS results of this case series indicate a marked decrease in pain for the participants.

How can Chiropractic help with Jaw Pain?!

First, lets talk about what Chiropractic is. Chiropractic is an art. Known to treat Neck and Back pain. Lesser known about Chiropractic is the ability to treat jaw pain.

Chiropractic has many ways to be administered. Traditionally it is associated with administering a thrust to the spine to reduce or eliminate a Subluxation, using the hands.

A Subluxation is a mis-alignment of the spine.
This mis-alignment is responsible for a loss of motion at that segment. There can be pain,  swelling and dysfunction.

Chiropractic puts motion in a fixed segment using a specifically designed thrust.

Pain or dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint is sometimes referred to as "TMJ", and temporomandibular joint disorder (or dysfunction) may be abbreviated TMD. This term is used to refer to a group of problems involving the temporomandibular joints and the muscles, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, and other tissues associated with them.

This is Dr. Roland K. Brim, I am a Chiropractor. I have almost 28 years of experience.  In my experience, jaw pain does not come from the jaw, it comes from the back!

I treat patients who suffer jaw pain. What I have found to be true might sound crazy! But it because of biomechanics, nothing more.  Scoliosis is the how and the why!.
Whose spine is perfectly straight? No one! So, from a mechanical standpoint, there should be jaw pain and midback pain on the left, neck  and lower back pain on the right.
